Oceans of Fate<\/strong><\/em> tells the story of how one ship intersected the lives of many through war and peace–from the First World War, the Roaring Twenties, Great Depression, and into the Second World War when the Empress of Asia<\/em>–serving as a troop transport–was destroyed by Japanese dive-bombers. The book involved more than three years of research with dozens of international contacts. Families with connections to the ship shared letters, memoirs, and photographs while archives, museums, and libraries provided historic documents and photos. Indeed, it is gratifying to know there are so many dedicated amateur and professional custodians of history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
